My name is Olivia Gilmer-Chekosky and I am a bilingual Clinical Social Worker (MSW. RSW) & Yoga Teacher. I primarily work with young adults (16+) looking to be supported with their nervous system dysregulation, life transitions and trauma. I also have a special interest in working with Performing Artists.

I believe in a holistic approach to health and wellness and think it is crucial to look at the individual as a whole being capable of healing if given the tools, safety and time to do so. I strongly believe that most symptoms and patterns of behaviour stem from past experiences that the body and brain have held on to survive.

I have experience working in community, hospital and school settings and bring this knowledge and experience with me into my private practice.

I believe every individual has an inherent ability to heal and to come back to Self and I look forward to witnessing this process.

Through somatic approaches, yoga, EMDR or talk therapy, we will find what works for YOU!

I became a Registered Nurse after graduating from the University of Calgary in 2012, and from the very beginning of my career, I knew my heart was in mental health. I have spent my entire nursing journey working in child and adolescent inpatient mental health settings, supporting individuals and families during some of their most vulnerable and overwhelming moments.

In 2023, I moved to Ottawa and began working at CHEO across their mental health units. Working with children, adolescents, and families during challenging times has strengthened my belief that everyone deserves care that feels safe, compassionate, and truly collaborative.

At Thrive Together, I work as a Nurse Psychotherapist and Care Concierge. I meet with clients for consultations alongside Dr. Smalley and provide navigation calls to help individuals and families find the right therapist and supports. I know how confusing and intimidating it can feel to reach out for help, and I aim to make that first step feel easier — offering warmth, clarity, and a steady presence along the way.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me adventuring with my family, spending time with our dogs, or on my yoga mat. I value connection, balance, and a sense of humor — and I bring that same grounded, real-life perspective into my work with clients.

Supporting people in their healing journeys is deeply meaningful to me, and I feel honored to walk alongside you as you take the next steps.
